Barlowgirl is an all girl band made up of three sisters: Rebecca Barlow, Alyssa Barlow and Lauren Barlow. For two years they traveled around the country and were the back up band for their dad. During one concert Lauren, who was the keyboard player at the time, caught sight of a drumset, fell in love.... and so a drummer was born. Soon after that the girls began experimenting with some song writing and out of the blue came songs never to be played or heard of again. During that time they decided to start their own band and have been one for the past three and a half years. The three sisters' Dad and his wife are now the girl's managers. It is now kind of like a family buiness.
Barlowgirl has a passion to write songs about the journey that God has taken them on in their own lives.
Not dating- "We believe that God has one perfect man already chosen for us; therefore we have no need to worry ourselves in searching for him. And when the time is right we know God will bring us together. In the meantime we are not hiding in a closet avoiding all males. We are still living our lives, just without the pressure of having to have a boyfriend."

hello seattle...
Dear world, I know its been quite some since any barlow has written a journal or done anything for that matter and for that I'm sorry. But other than that, I live a life of no regrets..except that one time when I said something really stupid to that one guy, I totally regret that..So, we just played Creation West and now we are driving back to Seattle to sleep for a second and then we fly to AZ. If u have never seen the Gorge where Creation is at, it is pretty much the prettiest place I have ever played at. Its so georgous (no pun intended). So I'm writing this on my phone so if there are any errors and you English teachers are cringing..my apologies..and you just keep teaching what you are teaching.. Well, incase u don't know our CD came out 2 days ago!! I'm soo excited! For me, it feels like its been out for such a long time since its been done for like 2 months but man, I'm so amped for you to hear it. We are so passionate about this album, so passionate about the themes of the songs and the music. I hope you all like the way we experimented with our jazz song. I think its rockin.. and now a word from Beka hardt..thank you lauren (read my entry like a news person) today in barlow world lauren sweated real bad in the sun, becca is fasting sugar AND COFFEE so she's kind of a debbie downer and alyssa's rib is back in place and I have a slight chance of rain back to you lauren. Thank you Beka, well she about covered it in that last scpheel so I'm done for now and I'm amazingly tired. Like my eyes feel like them have weights on them. I've been quite sleep deprived lately. Love you guys, stay classy. Xoxo

Nothin great but here it is anyways...
So, if you’re a crazy stalker you’ve probably been wondering “What’s going on in Barlow world” Well, consider me your personal People magazine for us Barlow girls, I got the latest scoop. But on a side note, I do not what so ever endorse people magazine or any other trash/ gossip magazine. It’s a waste of time to read them. Ok, I could write a book about gossip magazines and how terrible they are but I won’t be Debbie Downer right now… Ok, so back to us Barlow’s.. It’s been pretty low key for us girls. We haven’t had a show in a few weeks. Our show that was supposed to be on last Friday was cancelled due to flooding. I felt so bad it had to be cancelled. Hopefully we will be in that area sometime soon for those of you who were planning on coming to the show. Well, even though we have been at home we haven’t just been sitting on our bums.. We have been practicing our new songs pretty much every day. I’m so excited about them! I’m excited for you guys to get to hear them. We are going to start playing them in our sets now. Oh! Here’s My Life just went to radio so feel free to call you local CHR stations and harass them until they play it ? Well. I’m going to go to bed now but I just wanted to let you know we are alive and well. Later Lauren Ashley xoxo

Memorial day...
Hey guys...and girls.. I'm not just talking to the boys. Ok, I've got a little story to tell. So, we were in Cali this morning cause we just played at Spirit West Coast which was awesome by the way. But that is not the story.. Sorry if you thought it was. Ok, so we got picked up at the hotel by two women who took us to the airport so we could go home. Well, us girls went in one car and mom and dad in the other and as we were talking to our wonderful driver we found out that her and the other driver's husband were in the war and our drivers son was serving in the war as well. They (the husbands and son) haven't been home in months and they won't be home until October. And just with talking to her about her husband and son I felt as if today, Memorial Day, hit closer to home for me. Now, just to let you know, I am quite patriotic. For example, every time I see someone in the army or navy or airforce or the marines I want to run up to them and hug them and thank them over and over again for what they are doing for our country. They are my hero's. Now, granted, I don't do that cause if I did I would have thousands of restraining orders with my name on it. But what I'm saying is I support our troops 150% and respect them for what they are doing. But getting to hear a personal story of someone who's everyday was like a memorial day was amazing and humbling. It's not just one day a year for them. They think about them every day. 3455 men and women have died in this war, this war for freedom. And how many thousands more are serving in it right now?! These men and women have given their lives so that Iraq can somehow taste the same freedom that we are so privileged to have in our life. Most countries can only dream of having our freedom and now we are trying to make it a reality for a country that has been under a dictatorship for long enough and not only that, we are defending our freedom. Our freedom was attacked on Sept 11, we will defend it and we will not be defeated. Freedom comes at a very high price but that is why I love our country, because when we believe in something enough, we do it. I encourage all of you to pray for our troops, pray for their safety, pray Psalms 91 over them, pray that they will be comforted and that they will know God is with them and pray for their families to be comforted, to have strength, to never give up and pray for our wonderful President, that God gives him wisdom on what to do. I don't want to be rude and I'm not trying to be political, but I'm sorry if you don't like the war or agree with the Presidents politics or the decisions he has made, maybe you don't think this war is about freedom but about oil or something else but all I have to say is that there are men and women out there who are giving their lives for something they believe in and weather you believe in what they are doing or not, just them standing up and serving in this war deserves respect and love and support because to be honest most of us, myself included, could not do what they are doing. So, let's not let our rembrence for the hero's of our world only last for just today. Let's never let them out of our thoughts and prayers. And not only that, lets think of ways we can serve them. Sending them letters or things they need, whatever it is to make them feel supported because we need to support our troops! They are our hero's and they are why we are free. Goodness I just love America :) Lauren "the Patriot" xoxo4/29/2007
Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Congratulations to me everyone! It's been a record long 3 months since the last journal entry. Sorry about that. I could make a lot of really good excuses on why I haven't written one like ummm, we just finished GMA week where we did maybe 50 interviews in 3 days and had the Dove Awards. We were in Australia and New Zealand for a week and a half, we played 3 AMAZING shows and had 3 wonderful days off in New Zealand, we went to Hobbiton, climbed a volcano, held a Koloa bear, pet and fed kangaroos and I didn't pick up a computer once because it was so incredible there. And then I went really blond and Lyssa got bangs. Or how about when I had food poisoning for 5 days and was bed ridden all because I ate a stupid piece of Sushi, which I never ever eat I just decided to try it cause it looks like fun to eat..I couldn't even drink for 3 days. It was wonderful. Or what about us moving? Yeah, we actually moved to a farm. That's right the Barlow ladies are officially farm girls. No, I will never wear overalls or have pigs but we own a house on some acres with a pond and we grow corn and it's all in the country so now we are farmers.. Hooray for us. So since
we have been so busy with the house just moving in and actually enjoying the peacefulness of the country I just never got around to writing one. But I'm back on it again. I promise to never neglect you for this long ever again. Well, we are in San Diego right now. This city is defiantly one of my top 5 favorite places on earth. I love it here. We played a show here today and it was wonderful! It was one of those shows where when I got off stage I just wanted to scream. Like the first 15 seconds of this years super bowl-excited scream. When I feel like that, it was a good show. So today was a great show cause we all felt like super bowl screaming after it…Ladies and Gentlemen also in my absence we finished the album! I'm sooooo excited for you guys to hear it. I really think your gonna like it. Well, I hope you do cause I love it. Well, we fly all day tomorrow to Miami then we leave on Monday and go on the Music Boat cruise to Jamaica and we are playing shows so don't you think we are just going on a little vacation. Oh no, we are working in the Carribean :)   I've never been there but I'm really hoping I get to meet some good old fashion pirates. Or at least Johnny Depp. So, I'm gonna go now cause I am beat. We woke up at 3am to fly here today and we really have gotten no sleep the past week so I'm surviving on Ventishaken Black teas every day. God bless Starbucks. Good Night Moon. Good Night Stars. Good night San Diego..Good Night me.
Lauren xoxo

My Funny Valentine...
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I don’t have much time to write, we are in the studio recording background vocals for one of our ballads but I did want to share a little something. So this morning as I awoke and started getting ready for the day, I kept hearing a phrase in my head. “Ani Le’Dodi Ve’Dodi Li”. This phrase in Hebrew means “I am my beloveds and He is mine”. I truly felt this was God’s Desire for us today. No matter where we are in our lives, Single, Married, Divorced or widowed He desires us to see Him alone as our first and foremost, our All. He has and Always will view us as His Beloved. In Hebrew the root of Beloved (dode) means to boil. When God calls us His beloved He is implying that He is boiling over with love for us. His Love for us is unchanging He is ALWAYS boiling over with love for us. What an amazing gift! In turn it is up to us to choose if we want Him to be our beloved. Will we throw aside all that hinders us from His presence and pursue Him whole heartedly? If we do, we will NEVER be disappointed. Lord, let the call of our hearts be; “ whom have I in heaven but You, and on earth I desire none besides you! My flesh and heart may fail, But You are the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm73:25-26) So for this Valentine’s Day don’t forget to show your love for the one who loves you more then any earthly being ever could.

The Game is gonna ROCK!
ARE YOU READY FOR THE SUPER BOWL! YEAH! I’M SOO EXCITED!!!! We're going to our producers Otto's house for the game. So my little Penny is going to be home watching it all alone. But that may be good, because I think I really scare her sometimes when I scream and jump around everywhere during the games. So I’ll leave on the TV so she can still watch it without me. Oh, and I should clear a little something up. I am not actually going to the super bowl. I think some of you may have thought that in my last journal when I said “we are going to the superbowl.” I meant we as in the Bears.. Yeah, I really didn’t have $6,000 to just blow to go to the game. Maybe if I had of bought tickets last February, but I didn’t... So, I’m just going to watch the whole pre-game on TV now. They just did a tribute to Walter Payton and Brian Piccolo (both were running backs) former bears players who have passed away. They showed some clips of Walter Payton playing and OH my goodness, I forgot how stinking incredible he was!! My brother was soo obsessed with him. We even named the dog we used to have “Payton” after Walter. Yep We Barlow’s are such hardcore Bear fans. So I really hope they win this year. Now I know Payton Manning is an incredible QB and everyone thinks the Colts are going to win but I have one word for you. Defense. Yeah, our defense is Brilliant. Two more words for you . Brian Urlacher. Oh yeah! And Thomas Jones!! Not to be confused with Tom Jones cause if Tom Jones played for the Bears all he would be doing is running around singing “What’s New Pussycat.” Tom Jones should have done the Half time show but I’m sure Prince will be entertaining. I’ll probably post another journal tonight to share my joy when the Bears kick some Colt booty.. And if by some tiny tiny tiny chance the Bears don’t win, which isn’t going to happen, I probably won’t post for like a year cause of the sadness that will consume my life. Ok, I need to go make some more horrible for you food that you only get to eat once a year. May the Super Bowl Shuffle live on!!! GGGOOOOO BBBEEEAARRSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't really want to talk about it...
Well, I’m so depressed and I also fear for Rex Grossman. Chicago, if you’re reading this, we need to go easy on him. Let’s not trash talk, he had a lot of pressure on him and all the terrible publicity he got probably didn’t help his confidence at all. So lets support him cause he got us to the superbowl in the first place. And I doubt any of us could do better that what he did…That is unless Jim McMahon is reading this. Ok, there’s my speech. Lets talk about the first 14 seconds of the game. Did anyone else absolutely freak out when Hester got the ball and ran 92 yards to the goal. Oh, that was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I was screaming so loud.. Ok, but I’m still depressed we lost. I’m gonna go…. And I’m not gonna watch another game till next Saturday which is the Pro Bowl then I’m really done till August…Which is when the season starts up again.. Go bears…

I haven't been this excited in quite some time
WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! I’m soo excited! And when I say we, I mean the Bears. We were out eating lunch when the game started and I felt really bad for our waitress cause we watched the game on the TV the entire time we were there. Then we left at half time so we didn’t miss anything, then us girls watched the rest at home. It was such a brilliant game... I felt bad for the people staying below us and above us (we are staying at an apartment in Nashville) because we were jumping around and screaming during the game. Especially at the end when we won 39 to 14. Oh! I’m so amped! And I can't wait until next year! We haven’t been to the super bowl since 1985 when we actually won (yes the game took place in the beginning of 86 but it was the season of 85). Of course I Love the Bears much much more then the Patriots so if they play together at the super bowl, I’m obviously going to be cheering for the Bears. I just bought Penny a little Bears jersey to wear for the game, I also got her cleats, pads, a helmet, the black paint to put under her eyes and a flag that says “Long live the Super Bowl Shuffle”. Lovie Smith (coach) called cause he and Brian Urlacher (Line Backer) heard about Penny so they want her play in the game. She’s excited about it, trust me, she told me she can’t wait to tackle some guy that weighs 292 more pounds then she does. I’ll make sure Lyssa gets lots of pictures to show you guys of Penny in her gear. Well, I was just watching the Patriots- Colts game but mom really doesn’t like football at all, so she had us put on an old Gary Cooper movie. And I’m not complaining about that at all cause he one of my favorite actors, he and Jimmy Stewart. Now those guys are real actors. Well, I’m gonna go check online to see who won the Patriots game. And your homework.. You need to go online and watch the AMAZING music video that the Bears put out for their Grammy nominated song “the Super Bowl Shuffle”. Learn the words and memorize it. It will change your life...

I've got nothing clever..
2 weeks, 3 days, 10 hours, 30 minutes and 35 seconds since we Barlow’s migrated here to Nashville and we will be here for about 6 or 7 more weeks, give or take some days.. It feels like we’ve been here for so long already. I don’t miss my house per-say but I really miss my wonderful family. But God bless the cell phone and Alexander Graham Bell (yes, I know he didn’t invent the cell phone but the phone is the foundation of the cell phone). Text messaging, picture messaging and just plain talking to my family and Beka Hardt (honestly-she’s family) has made me feel a little bit of home.. Enough talking about home.. Lets talk about rock music. Well, I like it.. Do you? Well let’s hope so friends or your not gonna like our new album. It’s almost illegal how much it rocks, we could get arrested...Now that would be a first for me.. An album release party.. In the clink.. Well, once again Lyssa is working super hard to make all of us proud with her shredding bass lines. She’s gonna put many bass players to shameeven the guy who invented the bass called and said he was ashamed to even call himself a bass player and actually the guy who invented the drums called me when I tracked the drums and said the same thing to me…about drumming not playing the bass..(I’m glad the word drum can’t be mistaken for a fish or any other water creature like bass can..) Also, we called the guy who invented the guitar and we are making sure he is calling Becca when she tracks to say the same... Well, this journal is going nowhere but down I just wanted to let you all know we are still alive and making rock music for the wellbeing of all humans who populate this planet. Well, I think I should go read. I’m reading this brilliant book called “The Search for Significance”. A few days before I tracked drums mom handed me the book and told me I may want to read it (like only moms can, the suggest but you know you should do it). I’m gonna let you in on a secret, us girls aren’t the most confident musicians in the world. I’ve always had a hard time with playing the drums. I look at all the other drummers in the industry and they are all these incredible drummers and 98% of them are guys. And I’m a 21 year-old chick who picked up drums for fun and has had a whole 2 “lessons”. So when the pressure is on, I always get insecure about it. So, this book has been a whole load of goodness for me to readWell, when I find out exactly where the search for significance ends I’ll let you know.. Or you can just go read the book. So while I’m finding my significance, you should go find a girl scout and buy some of those mint cookies and those ones with the caramel and coconut in it.. That sounds so good right now…

Happy MLK Jr day to you...
You know something, The back of Alyssa's head is quite nice. I never thought much about it but since I've been staring at it the past few hours I've come to the conclusion that it's nice.Way to go Alyssa.. Lyssa is actually tracking bass right
now. Its sounding beautiful. Well, as beautiful as bass, drums, a scratch vocal, and a click track can sound together..Guys let me tell you something..I am soooo AMPED about this album!! I don't think I've ever been this excited about an album. I feel more passionate about each song and the topics of them   more then ever before. I can't wait for you guys to hear it. But your gonna have to wait. At least till July..Sorry friends, I'm just gonna build up the anticipation for   7 months till you wont be able to contain your excitement anymore and then you'll start a riot. Well, I know its been quite some time since any of us wrote a journal and I'm sorry about that. If I had a time machine I would totally go back in time and write journals every day for you guys and then I would go further back in time when dianosaurs were on the   earth and then I would put Mr. Long neck and Ms. T-Rex in my machine and bring them to the present day and set them free and see what happens. I think someone would make a movie about me and the dinos..I would see it. But I'd probably be in jail...

Oh, I got the cutest puppy for Christmas! She's a yorkie terrier. Her name is Penny Lane. No, I didn't name her after the chick from Almost Famous. Not like I ever saw the movie but I've been asked if Penny was named after her and no she wasn't . She was named after the Beatles song...Penny Lane (did I even have to tell you that?). She's incredible, even when she wakes me up in the morning when the sun comes up. But there is no way I can be upset with her cause she is always soo excited to see me! I really don't know why, but dogs are awesome like that. Lyssa isn't to happy though because while were in Nashville we had to share the same bed so Penny wakes her up too... Well, she's kinda getting used to it now. It's so wonderful to have a dog again. I've missed having one soo much. The only thing is Penny isn't to crazy about meeting new people, we will have to work on that cause she needs to accept it cause its her life, she has no choice. Well, if anyone is coming to the shows this weekend I'll try and bring her to the signing table so that you guys can meet her. She'll change your life for sure... because she sure changed mine...
Well, I need to get back to staring at Lyssas' head.
Love you guys
Lauren xoxoxoxo
Ps. The Bears are TOTALLY in the playoffs. We beat the Seahawks yesterday in overtime with a 49 yard field goal! I'm so pumped. I don't really know if we'll make it further but our defense rocks so who knows. Do any of you guys really care?
